Classroom Space
- if you have an assigned seat use it
- if you do not have an assigned seat guard this privilege wisely
- guard all your privileges wisely (chalk, books, free time)
- do not go behind my desk.
Homework, Papers and Late Work
- if we have a "homework check" these points are now or never - if it is not done it is a zero; if it is done it is full credit
- late work is accepted if the homework is between 1-25 points you will be deducted 2 points a day, 26-50 points 3 points is deducted, over 50 points you lose 5 points per day. You will NEVER be deducted less than 50%. This deduction is taken from your final grade on the assignment.
- Everything is revisable. Don't like the grade you got, redo it!
- assignments submitted via google docs must be titled "Assignment Name Date"
- in LIMITED quantities I may make extra credit available, usually towards the end of the quarters your best bet is to do your normal credit work.
Journals
- 25 points a week you don't want to miss!
- they will drag your grade down or raise your grade up!
- When you arrive in class, find your seat and your notebook and write the date and your journal. Must be 5 complete sentences AT LEAST. You will lose 1 point per sentence for anything shorter.
- Turn them in on Fridays.
- Get them back and read my comments!
It is easiest to use one notebook for your journals all year. You may leave it in the room.
**English 11 and British Literature journals will be graded based on the roll of a die on Fridays. 50/50 shot your journals will be graded.
Iowa Core - Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of tasks, purposes, and audiences. (W.9-10.10.)
Other information
- I'm available before, after school, and during study halls for help. USE IT
- My biggest pet peeve is disrespect towards each other. I will not hesitate to remove you from activities if you do not act in a manner of kindness and respect.
- Many times I'm going to ask you to "reflect." This means to ask yourself about the topic, what it means, what you think, what you feel, anything you know about it. connect to it personally, connect other books, people, tv shows or movies!
